Renowned celebrity chef Andi Oliver recently took to the picturesque city of Aberdeen, sharing her culinary journey and love for the region’s vibrant food scene with her followers. Accompanied by her daughter, Miquita, the duo embarked on a delightful exploration of the Granite City, highlighting its rich culinary offerings and breathtaking scenery.
During their visit, Andi and Miquita paid special attention to two notable locations: Greyhope Bay at Torry and the Italian-inspired restaurant Mara on Thistle Street.
Andi, known for her role as the presenter of The Great British Menu, expressed her admiration for the local food culture, stating, “I loved Aberdeen. I loved Mara.” The restaurant, recently taken over by Carolina Cochrane and her husband Ross, is known for its exquisite small plates and a warm, family-friendly atmosphere.
Andi shared a captivating video showcasing a table laden with sumptuous dishes, declaring some of the small plates to be among the best she has experienced in the UK.
“Beautiful food and that gorgeous arancini – best in the land,” she exclaimed, emphasizing the quality and creativity behind the culinary offerings at Mara.
Following their culinary adventure, Andi and Miquita ventured to Greyhope Bay for a dolphin-watching experience. Although they didn’t spot any dolphins, the stunning views of the city and the surrounding area left a lasting impression. Andi remarked, “You could see everywhere in the city – it was perfect.” The experience was enriched by their interaction with local staff and volunteers, including Fiona McIntyre, who has played a pivotal role in fostering community engagement at the site.
Miquita highlighted the importance of community, stating, “It was a really beautiful exchange that day. That was really special.” Their visit underscored the significance of local initiatives that bring people together and promote environmental awareness.
