Exciting developments in Moray: New businesses and expansions
Moray is buzzing with activity as several new projects and expansions are set to transform the local landscape. From the renovation of a historic church to the establishment of a new veterinary practice, the region is witnessing a wave of positive changes that promise to enhance community services and business opportunities.

Revamping a historic site in Buckie

One of the most notable projects is the transformation of the former Church of Christ in Buckie into a modern funeral home. Joe Dawsons Funeral Home, purchased by Laura Wood and William Paterson, is undergoing significant renovations aimed at revitalizing this historic building.

With a budget of £10,000, the planned improvements include new entrances, a ramp for accessibility, and alterations to the existing facilities. The community has responded positively, expressing appreciation for the building’s continued use and the thoughtful updates being made.

A new veterinary practice for Craigellachie

In another exciting development, Stacey Douglas is set to launch “The Craig Vets” on Dufftown Road in Craigellachie. This new veterinary practice will not only cater to small animals but will also provide essential services for farm and equine animals, making it a unique addition to the region. Importantly, the clinic will offer out-of-hours services, addressing a significant gap in local veterinary care. With nine letters of support already submitted, the community is eager for this new resource, especially after the recent removal of out-of-hours care in other practices, which forced pet owners to travel long distances for urgent care.

Expansion plans for MacGregor Industrial Supplies

MacGregor Industrial Supplies is also making strides with plans for a new branch at Elgin Business Park. Following the approval of their planning application, the company is set to construct a showroom, warehouse, and workshop to accommodate their growing operations. The current site, which has been in use since 2008, has reached its capacity, prompting the need for larger premises. The new facility, projected to cost around £6.79 million, will not only enhance operational efficiency but also provide additional parking for customers and staff, further supporting the local economy.

Moray Crematorium’s expansion for future growth

Additionally, Moray Crematorium is poised for expansion, with plans approved for a new standalone office building and enhancements to the existing crematorium facilities. These changes are designed to increase capacity and improve service delivery, ensuring that the crematorium can meet the growing needs of the community. A new filtration system will also be installed to comply with upcoming legislative requirements, demonstrating a commitment to both service and environmental responsibility.

As Moray continues to evolve with these exciting projects, local residents can look forward to enhanced services and facilities that cater to their needs. Whether it’s through the renovation of cherished community landmarks or the introduction of new businesses, the future looks bright for Moray.
