Celebrating dedication: Asda staff members mark milestone service years
In the bustling aisles of Asda Bridge of Dee, two familiar faces stand out among the crowd. Lisa Forbes and Ann Thomson, who have dedicated decades of their lives to serving customers, are being celebrated for their remarkable commitment to the store and its patrons.
This year marks a significant milestone, with Lisa completing 30 years of service and Ann reaching an impressive 35 years.
Building connections with customers
Lisa, a 58-year-old mother of two, expresses her fondness for the community she serves.
“I like the people here and seeing folk,” she shares, highlighting the friendly atmosphere that has become a hallmark of Asda Bridge of Dee. Regular customers often stop by for a chat, and Lisa appreciates the sense of belonging that comes with these interactions. “We are like one big family,” she adds, emphasizing the close-knit relationships formed over the years.
Ann, 63, echoes Lisa’s sentiments, noting the importance of connecting with older customers. “I like to speak to our older customers as you might be the only person they see in a day,” she explains. Their conversations range from light-hearted topics like the weather to personal anecdotes about upcoming holidays. Ann also shares her colorful nail designs, which often spark discussions with customers, further enhancing the sense of community.
Combating loneliness this holiday season
This year, Lisa and Ann are actively participating in Asda’s ‘Don’t be Gnome Alone this Christmas’ campaign, aimed at addressing loneliness among the elderly. Both staff members proudly wear their ‘Happy to Chat’ badges, signaling their openness to conversation. Lisa reflects on the impact of these interactions, stating, “It does make a big difference because you know that for some of these older customers, you may be the only person they see all day.” Their commitment to treating customers with kindness and respect is evident in their approach.
Ann adds, “Treat them as you’d want your grandparents or parents to be treated.” This philosophy not only fosters a welcoming environment but also enriches the lives of those they serve. The duo’s dedication to customer service exemplifies the spirit of community that Asda aims to promote.
Acknowledging long service and dedication
The store’s community champion, Margaux Lashbrook, commended Lisa and Ann for their unwavering commitment to customer service. “Congratulations to Lisa and Ann on their long service. They are stalwarts of customer service,” she remarked, recognizing the vital role they play in creating a positive shopping experience for all. Their stories serve as a reminder of the importance of human connection, especially during the festive season.
As the holiday season approaches, Lisa and Ann continue to spread joy and warmth through their interactions with customers. Their dedication not only enhances the shopping experience but also contributes to a sense of belonging within the community. In a world that often feels disconnected, their commitment to fostering relationships is a beacon of hope and kindness.
