Clachan Garden, run by the devoted couple Stephen and Margaret Munro, is vying for the coveted title of best guesthouse against three other hospitality owners.

Refurbished charm in a serene location
Located just five minutes from the scenic NC500 route at the head of Lochbroom, Clachan Garden has undergone a significant transformation over the past two years.
The Munros have lovingly refurbished a twenty-year-old house into a welcoming rural B&B, aiming to create a peaceful and relaxing atmosphere for their guests. “What we’ve tried to create is a peaceful and relaxing atmosphere,” Stephen stated confidently at the beginning of the competition. Margaret added, “People do say it’s like living home from home and they love it.”
Competition heats up among hospitality owners
This week, the Munros are joined by Graham Fraser from Highland Premier Glamping Pods in Kiltarlity, along with friends Sandie Donaldson and Chloe Watson from Cultybraggan Camp in Perthshire, and married couple James and Neil Smith from Upplemore Hotel near Glasgow. Each contestant will host their own segment, showcasing their unique offerings and hospitality skills.
Guest feedback and competition results
Clachan Garden offers four cozy rooms, each priced at £160 per night, including breakfast. While most guests praised the cleanliness and homely feel of the B&B, some criticisms arose during the show. James and Neil noted a dust-covered lamp and hairs in the bathtub, while Sandie and Chloe suggested that the use of plastic cups could be improved for environmental reasons.
In a revealing moment, Graham expressed dissatisfaction with his sleep quality, citing dripping water from the shower as a disturbance. Despite the critiques, guests appreciated the lovely coffee served at breakfast and the overall cozy ambiance. However, a heated debate ensued regarding the B&B’s ‘no-shoes policy’, with Graham awarding a low score for sleep quality, stating, “Sleep is the most important thing to me and as I couldn’t sleep here, it’s going to have to be a no.”
As the competition unfolds, the Munros remain hopeful for a positive outcome. The episode crowning the winners will air later this week on Channel Four, and viewers are eager to see how Clachan Garden fares against its competitors.
