Authorities are ramping up their search efforts for sisters Henrietta and Eliza Huszti, who have been missing since early Tuesday morning. The police have deployed divers and a raft to scour the icy waters of the River Dee, as the search area has been expanded towards Duthie Park.

Timeline of events

The sisters, originally from Hungary, were last seen at approximately AM on January 7, captured on CCTV footage walking along Market Street near Victoria Bridge. The footage indicates they were heading towards a footpath leading to the Aberdeen Boat Club.

Concern for their safety has grown significantly, prompting police to mobilize extensive resources, including divers, dog units, and helicopters.

Community involvement and public appeal

Chief Inspector Darren Bruce expressed the family’s distress, stating, “Eliza and Henrietta’s family are understandably extremely worried about them, and we are working tirelessly to find them.” He emphasized the importance of community involvement, urging anyone who may have seen the sisters or has relevant information to come forward. “Even if it doesn’t seem significant, please pass any information on and let us be the judge of that,” he added.

Importance of CCTV and dashcam footage

In a bid to gather more leads, police are particularly interested in reviewing CCTV footage from businesses in the South Esplanade and Menzies Road areas during the early hours of Tuesday. They are also appealing to drivers who may have dashcam footage from that time to assist in the investigation. The police have set up a dedicated line for tips, urging the public to contact them with any information related to the sisters’ whereabouts.

The search continues to be a top priority for local authorities, who are committed to bringing the sisters home safely. As the investigation unfolds, the community remains hopeful for their safe return.
