Exciting addition to the squad

Formartine United’s manager, Stuart Anderson, is expressing his enthusiasm following the signing of Glenn Murison, who has recently returned from a football stint in Australia. The former Huntly player, known for his ability to play both in defense and midfield, brings a wealth of experience to the Pitmedden club.

Having made over 200 appearances for Huntly, Murison’s return is seen as a significant boost for the team.

Murison’s journey back home

After departing for Shepparton, Victoria, in March 2022, Murison has been back in the north-east for several weeks.

However, he could only be registered with Formartine United once the January transfer window opened. Anderson, who has been tracking Murison’s progress for some time, is pleased to finally secure his signature. “Glenn’s a player I came across playing against him before he went to Australia,” Anderson stated, highlighting Murison’s energetic playing style and physical strength.

Looking ahead to the season

With Formartine United having faced a series of postponements since December 21, Murison is eager to make his debut this weekend against Keith at Kynoch Park. Anderson noted, “It’s good that he wanted to join us and we’ve done a lot of work on it.” The manager emphasized Murison’s versatility as a key asset for the squad, stating, “He’s aggressive, he’s really fit, he can pass the ball and score a goal.” This versatility is expected to play a crucial role as the team navigates the remainder of the season.

Future prospects for Turriff United

In related news, Turriff United has secured a pre-contract agreement with Dyce winger Sam Garnham, who will join the team at the end of the season. The 21-year-old has been a valuable player at Ian Mair Park since 2022, making 119 first-team appearances. Additionally, Turriff has also agreed to a pre-contract with 18-year-old full-back Scott Robertson, further strengthening their squad for the upcoming season.

As both Formartine United and Turriff United prepare for the challenges ahead, the excitement surrounding these new signings reflects the dynamic nature of the Breedon Highland League.
