This June, Inverness will host its largest indoor dance event ever, Pulse8, aiming to bring the vibrant energy of the Netherlands to the Highlands. Organized by Cromarty-born DJ Phil Macdonald, the event is set to take place at the Inverness Ice Centre on June 7, promising an exhilarating 10-hour experience for 1,600 attendees.

Bringing the Netherlands to the Highlands

Phil Macdonald, the owner of the renowned Gearbox Digital label, has partnered with local promoters Drew Stacy and Ross Mackay to create a unique opportunity for locals to enjoy a large-scale indoor event.

Macdonald, who has organized music events globally, emphasized the importance of such gatherings for the Highlands, stating, “Inverness needs something because any other city in Scotland is having large-scale dance events. We’ve lost the Ironworks and local festivals like Grooves and Rock Ness. We were really starved of any kind of decent live electronic music.” This event aims to fill that void.

A heart-pounding experience

Pulse8 will feature a diverse lineup of techno music, including house, hardgroove techno, and hard techno, culminating in a high-energy finale. The event’s theme, described by Macdonald as a “big green beating heart,” symbolizes Inverness as the heart of the Highlands. The visual experience will be enhanced with elaborate lighting and LED displays, creating an immersive atmosphere reminiscent of Dutch parties.

Exciting lineup and future plans

Among the performers will be rising star Alex Farell, alongside La La, Yasmin Gardezi, and Frazi.er, who will make his Inverness debut. Macdonald expressed hopes for future events, stating, “If this one goes well, we’d be looking to do more in the future 100%, even more than once a year.” The enthusiasm from the Ice Centre’s CEO, Gordon Barron, adds to the excitement, as he is keen to host more projects like Pulse8.

Tickets for this highly anticipated event will go on sale on February 28, with a presale for pre-registered attendees starting at 10 AM, followed by general sales at 2 PM. With preregistrations already soaring, Pulse8 is poised to be a landmark event in Inverness’s music scene.
