A devastating road incident on the A87 has resulted in the death of a woman from the Stafford area. The victim, identified as Kim Gilbert, was involved in a collision with a white Vauxhall Astra last Tuesday, which has left the community in shock.

Details of the incident

The tragic event unfolded around AM near Inverinate, close to Kyle. Emergency services were promptly dispatched to the scene, but despite their efforts, the 56-year-old was pronounced dead at the location. The road was subsequently closed for approximately seven hours as investigators worked to determine the circumstances surrounding the crash.

Injuries and ongoing investigation

In addition to Mrs. Gilbert’s unfortunate passing, a 57-year-old male driver was also involved in the incident and was transported to Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow for medical treatment. Authorities are now appealing for anyone who may have witnessed the crash or has information regarding the events leading up to it to come forward.

Police appeal for information

A police spokesperson stated, “Enquiries into this crash are ongoing. Officers are keen to speak with drivers who were in the area at the time and may have seen the white Vauxhall Astra traveling prior to the collision.” Sergeant Calum MacAulay of the Highlands and Islands Road Policing Unit expressed condolences to Mrs. Gilbert’s family and friends during this difficult time. He emphasized the importance of gathering information, urging anyone who was driving on the A87 near Inverinate around the time of the crash to contact the police.

Furthermore, authorities are particularly interested in any dash-cam footage that may have captured the moments leading up to the incident. Individuals with relevant information are encouraged to reach out to the police by calling 101 and quoting incident number 1126 from February 25.
