Ross County’s preparations post-international break
As the international break comes to a close, Ross County’s manager Don Cowie is focused on reintegrating his squad ahead of their upcoming match against Dundee United. Following a disappointing 2-0 defeat to Hearts, Cowie ensured his players had a chance to regroup and recharge before the next challenge.
While some players took the opportunity to travel abroad with their families, Cowie remained in Scotland, observing local matches to stay connected with the game.
International duty highlights for County players
Three members of the Ross County squad had the honor of representing their national teams during the break.
Midfielder Nohan Kenneh, who returned to the club on loan from Hibernian, earned his eighth cap for Liberia in a World Cup qualifying match against Sao Tome and Principe. His performance, playing the full 90 minutes, showcases his growing importance to the national side.
Meanwhile, teenage defender Dylan Smith made his debut for Scotland’s under-21 team, coming on as a substitute in a friendly against the Republic of Ireland. Although he faced a tough match against Iceland shortly after, his selection marks a significant milestone in his career, making him the first Ross County player to represent Scotland at this level since Jamie McCunnie.
Forward Ronan Hale also made headlines by being included in the Northern Ireland squad for the first time. Although he did not see any action during the friendlies against Switzerland and Sweden, his inclusion reflects his potential and the faith the coaching staff has in him.
Manager’s confidence in player reintegration
Cowie expressed pride in the achievements of his players on the international stage, emphasizing the valuable experience they gain from such opportunities. He noted that while the intensity of training with national teams may differ, the players will quickly adapt back to the club’s routine. With the match against Dundee United approaching, Cowie is optimistic that the trio will seamlessly reintegrate into the squad.
Currently, Ross County is managing a couple of injury concerns, with Ryan Leak sidelined for the season due to a ruptured Achilles. However, defender Michee Efete is nearing a return from a knee injury and could rejoin the squad soon. Cowie remains hopeful that with the majority of the team fit and ready, they can put forth a strong performance against Dundee United.
As the Staggies prepare for this crucial match, the focus will be on building momentum and capitalizing on the experiences gained during the international break. With a blend of youth and experience, Ross County aims to secure a vital victory at Victoria Park.
