Fresh Twitter controversy for JK Rowling’s new book

The latest instalment in her Strike detective series “Troubled Blood” was released on September 15 under Rowling’s pseudonym Robert Galbraith. Kerridge says in his report: “One wonders what critics of Rowling’s stance on trans issues will make of a book whose moral seems to be: never trust a man in a dress.”

The initial wave of controversy started when JK Rowling came when she replied to an article which used the words “people who menstruate” tweeting “I’m sure there used to be a word for those people.

The author defended her comments writing on her blog: “If sex isn’t real, the lived reality of women globally is erased. I know and love trans people, but erasing the concept of sex removes the ability of many to meaningfully discuss their lives. It isn’t hate to speak the truth.” In that same blog post, the author wrote about her experiences as a victim of domestic sexual abuse and argued that her stance was to protect women rather than attack the trans community.
