Due to Covid EasyJet cuts up to 30% of its staff

Airline Easyjet will have to make cuts on staff and flights due to the crisis caused by the pandemic.

The UK’s biggest budget airline, EasyJet will cutting up to 30 percent of its workforce due to Covid. It is estimated that 12,000 staff could lose their job. It is because pandemic make EasyJet doesn’t expect passenger demand to return to 2019 levels until 2023.

The airline plans to cut one-seventh of its Airbus jets or become 302 aircraft by the end of 2021.

In the next few days, EasyJet will make consultation with unions for reducing staff numbers up to 30 per cent. The consultation also taking about improving productivity.

Johan Lundgren, chief executive of EasyJet, said “We realise that these are very difficult times and we are having to consider very difficult decisions which will impact our people, but we want to protect as many jobs as we can for the long term.

Upcoming flights

The airplane which based in Luton will fly again on June 15, on a small number of domestic routes. Then the airline added that booking for winter are well ahead of the equivalent point last year, which includes customers who are rebooking Covid-19-disrupted flights for later dates.
