Baking soda is a great ally at home. It is often used to clean, but one of its abilities is to absorb perspiration so following this simple plan will reduce excessive underarm sweating. Take a shower and shave underarm area.

After the shower and shave, run cold water under the armpits to close the pores.

How to stop excessive sweating

Dry the area properly and apply a light dusting of Baking soda under the armpits. Change eating habits. Eat a diet of foods that help to reduce perspiration.

These include foods that are high in fibre such as whole grains, wheat, soy and leafy greens like spinach. Avoid processed foods and high sugar foods like sodas and sugary cereals and foods with a high concentration of hydrogenated oil. These foods increase perspiration and produce incidents of heavy sweating. Avoid caffeine because it will cause you to keep sweating.

Alternative home remedies: sage and zinc

Another very effective home remedy for people who are sweating too much is dried sage. Dried sage has been proven effective in the treatment of sweating armpits. Simply add 1 teaspoon of dried sage to 8 oz of boiling water and allow it to rest/steep for 15 minutes. Strain and drink the tea 2 to 4 times a day. Taking a dosage of 30 to 50 mg of Zinc will greatly reduce sweat production and is a simple answer for how to stop over sweating.

Excessive perspiration

Profuse sweating may be as a result of a medical condition known as Hyperhidrosis. Hyperhidrosis has no known cause and manifests as heavy sweating not only in the arm area but in other areas like the soles of the feet, the palms and the face.

Sweating help: treatment

When sweating becomes a serious problem, deodorants or home remedies are ineffective, and requires specific treatments. Treatment for hyperhidrosis may vary depending on the severity and complexity of the problem and may include Iontophoresis which is a procedure that may cause some discomfort.

A low level electric shock is administered to the underarms from water-saturated pads and this is done two times a day for at least a month. This procedure will stop sweat for several weeks. Other treatment options include Botox injections and surgery
