If you are in Italy during the Season you should find the time to visit San Marino, a microstate completely surrounded by Italy and nestled in the Apennine mountains.
I don’t know if you are familiar with its history, but the Republic of San Marino has a really glorious past.
According to tradition, saint Marinus persecuted by the Romans for his faith left his homeland (Croatia) for the Italian city of Rimini around 300 AD.
Here he worked as a bricklayer, but his Christian sermons soon caused a new stir and he had to flee the city and take refuge on a nearby mountain called Monte Titano where he founded a small church, thus forming a new community.
