Discovering Piedmont: Gino's grotto at Moncalieri, Turin

If you’re planning to spend a few days visit in Turin and its surroundings, don’t forget to pay a visit to the lovely town of Moncalieri.
Located only a few miles from Piedmont’s capital, Moncalieri has a lot of offer.

But this time I just want to focus on one of Moncalieri’s less well known attractions: Gino ‘s grotto.

To visit the grotto with its small canals which run between the hospital and the old castle you have to walk through the premises of a famous restaurant and then get on a small boat.

The place is now used as a wine cellar, but back in the 19th century the grotto was beautified with niches and fountains commissioned by a certain Mr Gino.
The place which was originally built to drain water from the nearby hill has now become a tourist attraction which never fails to work its magic on visitors! For further information click here
