Perched on a steep rocky mountain and with a bird‘s eye view over the whole valley, the fortress of Bardi is an amazing place which has no rival in the region.
The big news is that for the upcoming Easter holiday, the fortress after a prolonged closure, will open its doors to the public.
Actually the fortress can be visited this weekend too (a kind of “trial offer”) , so if you are in Parma don’t forget to mark your calendar! Built in 11th century, the fortress was thoroughly restored in 15th century, with new rooms added by the powerful family Landi who owned the place for centuries.
After those glorious days, the castle/fortress was turned into a military fort, towering over the roads leading to Genoa and the sea.
