While this morning’s first free practice was fully wet, this afternoon the Valencia track presented itself in mixed conditions, that half damp half dry situation which riders and teams hate because they can’t work on set-up, so it was another wasted session, one of several that we’ve seen this season.
With several riders completely sitting out of practice (Lorenzo, Pedrosa, Stoner, Dovizioso and Bradl) the CRT riders received a lot more air time and Randy de Puniet topped the timesheets with a best lap of 1.
36.
965, before a technical problem on his ART forced him to park his machine.
Michele Pirro was second fastest and a little more than a tenth of a second slower.
Nicky Hayden who was the fastest rider in the wet in FP1, decided to head out in the last minutes and finish third and he was followed by Cardion AB’s Karel Abraham.
Valentino Rossi was fifth, while Danilo Petrucci on the BMW-Suter was 6th and he was followed by Ivan Silva, Roberto Rolfo, James Ellison, Hiroshi Aoyama and Claudio Corti.
Out of the FP2 107% cut despite recording lap times were Crutchlow, Bautista, Nakasuga, Espargaro, Barbera and Colin Edwards.
