Inspired by the innovative twin-cylinder offroad SXV and RXV, we present the new Aprilia RX 50 and SX 50: two 50cc bikes dedicated to young riders who want the best in technology.
The RX and SX 50 are an enduro and a motard (respectively), equipped with latest generation engines and options to scare off bikes with a higher capacity.
The small 50 cc motor can be deceiving: but the RX and SX are real engines, at ease in the trip from house to school, as in harder circuits.
The spiky lines derive from what we’ve already seen on the bigger RXV and SXV versions.
The new chassis is light and resistant and creates a direct line between the steering and fork, as in latest trends in offroad.
Made from high-resistance steel it absorbs the grind on suspension of offroad driving.
Following are some of the details from Aprilia’s media kit.
As already stated, the suspension is the strong point of this bike.
With the Marzocchi fork and its 40mm stems, it easily absorbs shocks.
The hydraulic shock absorber contributes and the rear wheel has a range of 180mm, meaning the RX/SX is ready for anything.
The powerful front brake system is multi-dimensional, guaranteeing safe and ready deceleration.
The steel disc is at 260mm for the enduro RX and a good 300mm for the SX motard, record diameters for their categories.
The floating calipers have two pistons while on the rear we find an inox steel disc at 180mm and a powerful two-piston opposing caliper.
Not any less important are the wheels, another distinctive element of Aprilia’s small offroad.
The alluminium wheel offers greater lightness and resistance to shock.
The RX is equipped with a 21-inch front wheel and an 18-inch rear one, as per racing bikes.
The SX has no less with two 17-inch wheels and treaded tyres capable of supporting both city driving and an excursion on the grids of a track.
The liquid-cooled engine is a two-stroke Euro 2 and the latest available technology means weight is kept at only 15kg.
Lubrification is mixed separately with a variable volumetric pump.
The bike is a pedal “kick starter” and the shift has six ratios, allowing the engine to work at maximum performance.
The exhaust system is also made from inox steel.
The small 50cc are equipped with a compact, digital instrumention and innovative design.
The long seat is above the fuel tank and allows for free movement for sporty riding.
The tank has a seven litre capacity: given the reduced consumption of the 50cc engine, the Aprilia RX 50 and SX 50 offer adequate automony for every type of use.
