The second free practice (there’s another one later this evening) ahead of Sunday’s Qatar GP saw Casey Stoner again on top of the timesheets with another blistering lap of 1’55″457, dropping another three tenths of second from his yesterday’s best time and if he’s bike package is only 80%, we can only imagine on what planet he’ll be if he finds that remaining 10-20%.
On paper, the only one who theoritically could stop Stoner and save us from a runaway race, is still Dani Pedrosa, who halved his yesterday’s gap from 6 to 3 tenths with both Repsol riders under the 1.
56 mark and the only ones to break that barrier.
From the third to the tenth position saw the riders separated by only five tenths.
Ben Spies took the third position followed by Andrea Dovizioso who probably solved his vibration problems and used the soft tire he was saving for today’s practices.
Jorge Lorenzo was once again behind his team mate in 5th, while Colin Edwards made a jump forward to sixth as did his rookie team mate Cal Crutchlow who made the top ten, finishing in 8th despite suffering big time from nerve damage and pain after loosing the tip of his little finger during Monday evening’s test.
Valentino Rossi dropped back from yesterday’s fifth to take ninth and not improving, while Nicky Hayden was just 0.
094s behind him in 10th.
