Though less well known than the Colosseum and Emperor Nero’s Domus Aurea, the Forum Boarium which was originally Rome’s cattle market is well worth a visit.
Located at a flat near the Tiber River between the Capitoline and the Aventine hills (here was one of Rome’s most important trade roads) the place was always abuzz with commercial activity.
So if you’re planning to spend a few days in Rome, don’t forget to visit the forum Boarium and its beautiful monuments which include the temple of Portunus, the Cloaca Maxima and the famous Arch of Janus which is the only quadrifrons triumphal arch preserved in Rome!
