Budget hotels in Rome…?

It appears that a major drawback in the current diminished value of the American dollar is travelling to Europe.
Italy has always been a popular destination for Americans and you can hear the accent everywhere from Naples, to Rome, to Florence and even up to Bellaggio on Lake Como.

But with the current exchange rate finding economic accommodation options can be like looking for a needle in a haystack.

But folks over at CNN reckon they’ve got the low-down on Rome accommodation options for American tourists.
While the article ‘Rome hotels at a price that’s right‘ for me begs the question as to whether staying in hotels is the best way to go in this country, it looks as though they’ve chosen some nice places.

And while we might be able to travel on the euro, here in Italy bargains are few and far between and so we thought we’d take advantage of the research too.
A colleague of mine who lives in Rome particularly recommends the Hotel Coppedè, saying it’s an area where one can breathe the traditional air of Rome.

While a double room with bath from 100 euro a night might not be exactly a budget price, you won’t find much for less around these parts.
And while the article also features The Beehive hotel/hostel, costing less, I honestly wouldn’t recommend anything much around the Termini train station.
It’s not exactly the ambience you’d like for your romantic weekend in this city.
