On June 26 another Italian basketball player could be on his way to the NBA.
Danilo Gallinari is otherwise known as the “Gallo” (the Rooster), and is a talented 19-year-old from Sant’Angelo Lodigiano.
He currently plays for Armani Jeans Olimpia Milano.
Danilo has a unique story to tell, having just been elected best young star in Europe.
His team, the Armani Jeans Olimpia, has won more titles than any other side in Italy, totalling 25 championships.
The team has seen such players as Bob McAdoo and Mike D’Antoni, current coach of the New York Knicks.
Given that Danilo’s father, Vittorio Gallinari was an important team mate of McAdoo and D’Antoni, New York seems a natural choice.
We’ll wait and see what happens at the next draft on June 26 at Madison Square Garden in New York.
