Calabria in the South of Italy is a place of incomparable beauty; a wild landscape that will make your heart go faster and fill you with a strange elation.
But besides its natural beauty, Calabria has much to offer; its cuisine for instance with its simple flavours is second to none.
A few weeks ago I went to a restaurant called Osteria del Pescatore in Tropea, a beautiful old town by the sea, and I had a delicious dinner.
Fish food rules the menu of course but one can have meat too.
You may start off with really tasty appetizers such as nduia (a spread made from pork salted meat), Tropea onions, typical of this area, aubergine gratin and the famous pittea, an anchovy-based dish which years ago was the staple diet of the local fishermen.
As a first course I would recommend filej (pasta with muscles) and if after all this, you should still feel hungry, you can always order delicious shrimps or other sea-food dishes like fritto misto (a mix of fried seafood).
By the way, the meal will cost you only 30.
