The famous Venice Carnevale is to start soon, and Italy’s romantic city is ready for celebrations.
This year’s rich program of events will start on February 14 and is called “Sensation – 6 sensi per 6 sestieri”.
Among the program’s initiatives is the Festa Veneziana, or Venetian party at Cannaregio, with colourful parades from the Società Remiere and local dishes.
There is also the Carnevale al Buio where one of the six senses explored in the program is that of touch, while in true carnival spirit you can try the very cold Bagno degli Ibernisti, or swim at Venice’s beach.
The Volo dell’Angelo (flight of the angel) will take place in Venice’s St Mark’s square, while the Volo dell’Asino (flight of the donkey) parody occurs in Piazza Ferretto.
In occasion of Venice’s Carnevale, 20 hotels are offering the Carnevale Vive 2009 package which includes two night’s accommodation with breakfast, traditional mantle with cocked hat as a gift, free entry to the Casinò Ca’Vendramin Calergi, or Venice’s casino on the Grand Canal including aperitif and snack.
Other initiatives include an audio guide tour to the Teatro “La Fenice” (Phoenix theatre), and the Vive Card for restaurant discounts.
The package costs 221 euros.
