According to reports, by the end of 2010, a new cycle and trekking path in Sardinia will be open.
The “Alghero” track, Badde ‘e Salighes will be available for cycling, trekking and horse riding activities.
It can be reached from the northern coastal town of Algero, and takes in the interior landscape of Sardinia, reaching Badd’e Salighes to the north of Macomer, in a track 80 kilometres long.

The plan is part of a larger project for Sardinia, to promote its beautiful internal landscape and various sporting activities.

The centre of the project is the Villa Piercy, built by Welsh engineer Benjamin Piercy between 1879 and 1882, on the hills at Bolotana.
The new track would take in the agricultural and culinary traditions of Sardinia and give an alternative to the beaches and seaside tourism.
Farm stays and agriturismi would offer accommodation, restaurants, and services for those trekking, cycling or riding.
