Okay, so they didn’t win but we bet that the local council of Ficarra is still buying tickets in the Italian lottery.
Last draw was a massive 147 million euro jackpot, which is a lot of money for the council to pay some debts and get a few infrastructure projects off the ground.
And given the current jackpot stands at more than 54 million euros, why wouldn’t you still buy a ticket?Buying lottery tickets is a joint effort from the council, with various members deciding to forfeit 115 euros a head.
It wasn’t as simple as just picking your numbers however, as a complicated system has been devised to maximise the odds of winning.
What’s more, Ficarra, in Sicily, is not the only town that has been buying lottery tickets, with Varallo Sesia in Piedmont and Anguillara, not far from Rome, also getting in on the game.
In the above picture is a sign from Santo Stefano di Camastra in Messina that reads: “With two [numbers], you do nothing, with three you pay a coffee, with four you can offer pizza, with five you change your car, and with six you change yourself.
