Summer holidays in Sardinia: San Sperate, near Cagliari

Not far from Cagliari, there’s a lovely village called San Sperate; you are wrong if you are thinking that we are just talking about one of those picturesque hamlets that tourists are so fond of! San Sperate is far more than that; many consider it a real museum in the open.

Its transformation began in the 1960s when artist Pinuccio Sciola started to fresco walls, houses and squares and place sculptures all over the village; inspired by peasant life and folk culture these amazing works of art are on display, as you can easily imagine, twenty hour a day all year long! And if you are in the area around the end of July, don’t miss the Cuncambias Festival and San Sperate Peach festival! Come and enjoy the food, entertainment and arts and crafts with thousands of other people!
