Here’s the trailer to Mine Verganti, or Loose Cannons, Ferzan Ozpetek’s new film.
The film appears two years after the badly received Un giorno perfetto or A perfect day, and marks a much anticipated return to cinema for the Italian-Turkish director.
Mine Verganti has already received accolades at the Berlin Film Festival, in a film starring Riccardo Scamarcio, Ennio Fantastichini, Alessandro Preziosi, Carolina Crescentini, Nicole Grimaudo, and Elena Sofia Ricci.
The film tells the story of a family dealing with the unexpected announcement and “coming out” of their gay son.
Above is the trailer (in Italian) to Mine Verganti.
The film is set in Lecce, among the olive groves and blue sea of Gallipoli, in an Italy still prone to homophobia, particularly in small town communities and families.
The film features a soundtrack with Nina Zilli, who we first in a performance of “L’uomo che amava le donne” at the 2010 Sanremo festival.
