Every year the Association Artigiani di via dell’ Orso (Rome) organises an event called Mostra di Natale or Christmas exhibition and during which the most skilled artisans in the area around via dell’ Orso, via dei Gigli d’oro, vicolo della Colomba and via Soldati put on view their best products and items.
From 11 to 23 December the whole place will be converted into one shopping centre perfect for stocking up on gourmet products or luxury goods such as jewellery.
Moreover by walking down the main drag of the Via dell’Orso district you will have the chance to see such grand palazzos as Palazzo Scapucci, built in the 16th century and which, among other things, features the famous Frangipane Tower ( also know as the Tower of the Monkey).
The paintings by Roesler Franz (Roma, 1845 – 1907) that you see above show the changes that the area – included Palazzo Scapucci – went through over the last two centuries.
