Until January 31 2009, an exhibition of nativity scenes from around the world will be on display at the the Art Forum Würth in Capena, Rome.
It’s an excellent focus for a Christmas religious pilgrimage to Rome, with the pieces coming from the former International Collection of Artistic Nativity scenes, from Ulfert-Buchholz.
The nativity scenes were collected by the couple across a period of 40 years.
The variety of techniques, materials and interpretations is truly incredible; and if you allow me a moment, I believe it shows the universal resonance of the nativity story.
Even the very aspects of the figures change according to origin, and there are some very beautiful pieces.
In the gallery below, the first is from Morocco, then a traditional Italian nativity scene, then an interpretation from Peru and so forth, including Vietnam and Tanzania as well.
For your Christmas in Rome, I recommend a visit here.
