Can a postage stamp be an artwork? Sorry, I don’t have an answer to this, but I know for sure there are people who go bananas over them! Actually some of these stamps are really beautiful and made from the most unusual materials such as silk and wood and sometimes, I don’t know if you know this, they are even worked like handmade lace .

Here in Italy the Postal Service will soon launch a golden stamp (2 million pieces) depicting the famous Bocca della Verità.

This new stamp made from a thin gold leaf – previously obtained through a vaporisation process – will cost 2,80 euros; it will be presented at Romafil 08, an important event devoted to stamp collecting that will take place at Palazzo dei Congressi in Rome from 10th to 12th October.
