News from Italy is that George Clooney has sold his Lake Como villa – Villa Oleandra – and to who? No-one famous or interesting, no Russian oligarchs or eastern princesses, but an unknown industrial family from the Brianza (lucky them!).
Unless you’re in the know in the textiles industry and the Besana name means anything to you (apparently they are European leaders in producing towelling).
We were hoping for something juicier than this but there you have it.
The figure, however, is quite astonishing with the Clooney villa sale apparently going for about 30 million euros.
That figure would include Villa Oleandra, the Villa Margherita guest house and obviously the rest of the facilities including the park, swimming pool, sauna, basketball court and cinema with production room facilities.
The reports have not been confirmed as such so we can take them as rumours at this stage but the Italians are truly concerned about the possible departure of George Clooney from the shores of their lake.
Apparently even the mayor of the town Laglio has written a letter to Clooney asking him to reconsider.
The only hope left is that the Hollywood gentleman changes his mind based on nostalgia.
