Lake Como was the scene for a spectacular air show yesterday, as Swiss fighter pilots opened the skies to an Air Show, which included the heart-in-mouth acrobatics of the Flying Bulls pilots.
Crowds around the lake at Lecco and Malgrate were wowed by the show, which started with air force jets thundering through the moutains above the lake.
Cloudy skies didn’t dampen the show with plenty of people coming out to see individual acrobatics as well as flying in formation from the Flying Bulls team.
There was plenty to give you a stiff neck, and the day finished with the paragliding “Cornizzolo Cup”, involving 130 gliders from Russia, Japan and Australia.
My favourite was the fighter jet – I never knew such grace could be produced from something so powerful.
It’s a strange sensation as the jet seems to push along through silence with the cracking noise ricocheting along the lake after.
