It’s not quite in the big, Irish, Catholic drinking style, but Milan has its first Christian pub.
By the looks of it, it’s nothing compared to a Guinness location on the green isle, but it certainly has the address to appeal.
Brera is one of the posher areas of Milan and the pub’s name, reflective of the leanings of the Evangelical Church of the International Minister Sabaoth, is “The Sheep” (Le Pecore).
Apparently the pub is like any other bar in Milan but you can meet people who are prepared to listen, talk and pray together.
The interior design includes mega-writing of the Scriptures, for example “forgive seventy times seven”, or “Jesus” in characters vaguely psychedelic.
Aside from its usual activities the pub also organises concerts and debates, not always of a religious theme.
I’m not sure whether it will take off or not, most Italians seem to like their beer without the bible.
