Art, and Christmas markets in Rome for Christmas

With Christmas on the way and a new feel in the air, Rome is more beautiful than ever.
Fairy lights and decorations make the city look like an old and nostalgic aristocrat waiting for her name to be announced at the ball.

Winter becomes Rome and strolling down its streets thronged with people on a shopping binge can be quite an exciting experience.

Piazza Navona, for instance, hosts one of the most charming (and oldest) markets dedicated to Christmas.
Stalls are set out offering gifts and traditional Christmas sweets; a real feast for all your senses.

But if you an art buff and hate shopping, don’t worry, Rome is hosting a series of very interesting art exhibitions too.
Here’s the list:- Giovanni Bellini will be on display at the Quirinale Stables until 11 January 2009- From Rembrandt to Vermeer exhibition at Museo del Corso until 15 February 2009; Museo del Corso will also host an exhibition dedicated to Jean Michel Basquiat, an American graffiti artist who died from drug-related causes in 1988.
– De Chirico e il Museo, an art exhibition devoted to the great Italian artist 30 years after his death.
