Overview
What You Need
First and foremost, you need paper to make the paper star. You could use store bought paper or even paper from magazines that you are planning to dispose of. Using paper from catalogues and magazines has another advantage, because you will be able to choose a variety of colours. Apart from that, you also need scissors and a ruler. Some thread or twine should also be kept handy.

There is no denying that a little skill is involved in the process. However, with practice, making these stars will come to you quite easily. Follow these steps:

• Cut 1 cm wide strips from the paper, keeping the length as per your choice.

• Tie a knot at one end. This knot is a simple one, quite like the knot one would tie while tying shoe laces.

• As you gently tug at the knot, make sure that there are no creases and the paper does not tear. Press down, only after all the edges are in contact with each other.

• There should now be a pentagon like shape in front of you, with one edge sticking out.

• Fold the end that is jutting out inwards, so that it is no longer visible.

• Now fold the long end around the edges of this pentagon.

• You should ideally now have a thicker pentagon.

• All that is now left to do is to tuck in all the loose ends, creating a neat parcel, that is in the shape of a pentagon.

• Push in the edges of the pentagon to give this ball the shape of a star.
Conclusion
Final word
There are people who are of the opinion that once you have mastered the art of making these paper stars, you will be addicted to them, as these are easy to make, and take very little time.
