The famous Italian composer Enno Morricone is dead: he was 91 years old.
Ennio Morricone is dead at the age of 91, a grave mourning for the world of Italian music and entertainment. The legendary composer of many Oscar-winning soundtracks died because of the consequences of a serious fall. The news have aroused great sadness in the world of entertainment and culture.

Many messages of condolence published on Twitter by personalities of the show and not only. Since the 70s, Ennio Morricone has been the backbone of Italian creativity. His fame exploded thanks to the artistic partnership with Sergio Leone, the father of the film “Spaghetti Western” genre. Also, he cooperated with many famous filmmaker, from Bertolucci to Carpenter. Morricone received two Academy Awards, one in 2007 and the other in 2016.
Among his prizes, Ennio Morricone received the honorary degree by Europclub Sicilian Region in 2010. Then, he was awarded in Rome the prestigious Aquila D’Oro Prizen 2012, for the “Music” section, with the following motivation: “For having been able to combine and disseminate two particular languages, that of music and cinema, merging them and live in their completeness, excelling as an artist in an absolute way worldwide, bringing the name of Italy to unique and unattainable cultural heights.”

Morricone was awarded the Academy Award for his career in 2007. He thanked the Academy: “I want to thank the Academy for this honor it gave me, by giving me this coveted award, but I also want to thank all those who wanted this award for me strongly, and felt deeply to grant it to me. Actually, I also want to thank my directors, who called me with their trust, to write music in their films. I really would not be here if not for them. My thoughts also go to all the artists who deserved this award and who did not. I wish him well in the near future.”
“For me, this award is not a point of arrival but a starting point to improve myself at the service of the cinema and also at the service of my personal aesthetics on applied music. I dedicate this Oscar to my wife Maria who loves me very much […] and I love her in the same way and this award is also for her”, he concluded.
