A contestant from Strictly Come Dancing, HRVY, has tested positive for Covid. The results come 10 days before the show was due to be filmed. He tweeted that he is all good, no symptoms, and just isolating for the next 10 days. He also told his fans that he is “super bored” and that they should prepare theirselves for his Tik Toks.
A BBC spokesman has confirmed that HRVY has tested positive but he is still expected to take part in the series.
The spokesman also revealed, “We have rigorous protocols in place to manage Covid as the safety of all those involved in the production is paramount.”
NHS guidance says someone with a positive test will “usually need to self-isolate for at least 10 days”. The launch show will be filmed on 12 October and be broadcast five days later, with the live shows starting on October 24.
Judge Bruno Tonioli will have a lesser role as a result of strict Covid restrictions and this year’s series will be shorter than normal.
The BBC has confirmed that contestants will still be able to rehearse, perform and go home to their families each night – following government guidelines.
HRVY, whose real name is Harvey Leigh Cantwell, has a social media following of more than 10 million, and his songs have been streamed more than a billion times. The 21 year old has sold out tours in the UK and Europe in the past and his first album is set to be released later this year.
The 21-year-old made his name by uploading music videos to Facebook. He has since sold out UK and European tours and his debut album will be out later this year.
