Sex and the City returns

Kim Catrall who played Samantha Jones will not feature in The Sex and the City revival, titled “And Just Like That”. The simple reason why Kim will be absent is because she is “not required” for the new series.

Sarah Jessica Parker who plays fashion writer Carrie Bradshaw in the TV comedy-drama, will be joined by Kristin Davis and Cynthia Nixon who will play their original characters Charlotte York Goldenblatt and Miranda Hobbes, respectively.

Kim herself has maintained that she would never return to the franchise. Besides, she has been dismissive of Sarah in the past, hinting that she was not “nice” to work with.

One commenter wrote: “Happy to see you back but will miss Kim/Samantha.”

Sarah replied to this with: “We will too.

We loved her so. X.”

In reply to another comment, Sarah wrote: “She will always be there. And we are so excited. X.”

Sarah then shot down a fan who speculated that there was a feud between the two stars. She hit back saying: “No. I don’t dislike her. I’ve never said that. Never would. Samantha isn’t part of this story. But she will always be part of us. No matter where we are or what we do. X.”

The comeback was announced on Sunday when the three co-stars shared a teaser trailer on their Instagram pages. Sarah wrote: “I couldn’t help but wonder… where are they now? X, SJ @HBOMax@JustLikeThatMax#AndJustLikeThat #SATCNextChapter.”

A statement confirmed that HBO Max had “given a series order to AND JUST LIKE THAT …, a new chapter of the groundbreaking HBO series, Sex and the City, from executive producer Michael Patrick King and starring Sarah Jessica Parker, Cynthia Nixon, and Kristin Davis.”

“The series will follow Carrie, Miranda, and Charlotte as they navigate the journey from the complicated reality of life and friendship in their 30s to the even more complicated reality of life and friendship in their 50s.”

The series has ten half-hour episodes scheduled to begin production in New York in late spring.
