London Grammar Singer Hannah Reid: “It’s a constant battle in this industry”

Hannah Reid, known as London Grammar singer, tells of her “constant battle” with the male-dominated music industry. She became famous a decade ago as the frontwoman of the three-piece band known for hits “Let Me Lose My Mind” and” Reckless“, alongside bandmates Dan Rothman and Dominic Major.

The singer thought surviving in the music business required strong boundaries and a thick skin. She had consciously taken on a leadership role in the industry. The London-born star also said if people don’t respect her as a leader, people won’t respect her at all.

She also added that she has had such difficulty sometimes being the only female in the room. Reid also told her bandmates that if they support her in that way, she doesn’t think people can take advantage of them.

She continued, “It’s an industry where you do have to have quite strong boundaries and a thick skin. It’s a constant battle.”

Reid credited younger female artists such as Arlo Parks and Billie Eilish for “leading the way” and helping her have the courage to produce authentic music.
