D2Zero expands its clean energy portfolio with Kelton acquisition
Aberdeen-based clean energy group D2Zero has made a significant move in the energy sector by acquiring Kelton, a consultancy firm specializing in oil and gas. This acquisition, the financial details of which remain undisclosed, adds 25 skilled employees to D2Zero’s already impressive workforce of 4,000. Founded in 1991, Kelton has established itself as a leader in helping energy businesses worldwide optimize their operations through advanced system flow measurement analysis.
Kelton operates from its headquarters in The Capitol building on Union Street and utilizes proprietary software and technology to enhance efficiency, reduce costs, and lower carbon intensity for its clients. D2Zero has emphasized that this acquisition will significantly bolster its digital capabilities, further accelerating its strategic momentum in the energy transition landscape. The firm is committed to addressing four critical areas: emissions reduction, clean hydrogen, power efficiency and management, and carbon capture and storage.
Bob Drummond, the Chief Executive of D2Zero, expressed enthusiasm about the acquisition, stating, “The Kelton team has been instrumental in helping some of the world’s most sophisticated energy businesses understand their operations through precision measurement technology and data analytics.” He believes that Kelton will enhance D2Zero’s ability to tackle the complex decarbonization challenges faced by their customers. The acquisition aligns with D2Zero’s vision of becoming a platform that accelerates opportunities for businesses aiming to impact the energy transition.
With a robust pipeline of opportunities, D2Zero is poised for further growth. The firm, which is financially backed by SCF Partners, already includes several companies under its umbrella, such as Score and Hydrasun, with revenues exceeding £500 million. The acquisition of Kelton, which operates 12 offices globally, is expected to enhance D2Zero’s consulting capabilities and expand its reach in the energy sector. Iain Pirie, Managing Director of Kelton, expressed pride in joining D2Zero, highlighting the potential for growth and innovation within a group dedicated to accelerating the energy transition.
