The singer was in fact put under ‘conservatorship’ 13 years ago, after she had experienced several mental breakdowns. Due to concerns over her mental health, her father Jamie Spears took control of her estate and her daily life, even controlling her calls and texts.
A #FreeBritney movement started on social media in 2020 in support of Britney Spears’ plea to remove her father as her conservator.
Many celebrities showed support, like Sarah Jessica Parker, Bette Midler, Hayley Williams, just to name a few.
