Serious three-car crash on A950 leaves one man critically injured

A tragic incident occurred on the A950 near Mintlaw, Aberdeenshire, where a three-car collision resulted in life-threatening injuries for a 40-year-old man. The accident took place shortly after 6:25 PM on Saturday evening, just over a mile from Mintlaw, on the route to Longside.

Emergency services responded promptly, transporting the injured man to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary for urgent medical care.

Details of the crash

The collision involved three vehicles: a Ford Escort, driven by the injured man, a Nissan Pixo, and a Ford Fiesta.

The female driver of the Pixo and two female passengers from the Fiesta were also taken to the hospital, although their injuries were reported as non-life-threatening. The severity of the man’s condition has raised concerns, prompting local authorities to launch an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the crash.

Investigation and police appeal

Police Scotland’s road policing unit is actively investigating the incident. Sergeant Eoin Maxwell has urged anyone with information about the crash to come forward. He stated, “Our inquiries into this collision are ongoing, and we would urge anyone who may have information or who saw any of the vehicles on the road before the incident to get in touch.” The police are particularly interested in speaking with individuals who may have dashcam footage from the area at the time of the accident.

Road closure and community impact

The A950 was closed for approximately eight and a half hours to facilitate the investigation and recovery of the vehicles involved. Such incidents not only affect those directly involved but also have a significant impact on the local community, causing delays and disruptions. The police are committed to ensuring road safety and are appealing for community support in gathering information that could aid their investigation.

Anyone with relevant information is encouraged to contact the police by calling 101 and quoting reference 2915 of October 26. Community vigilance can play a crucial role in enhancing road safety and preventing future accidents.
