The suspect of the terror attack of Reading, Khairi Saadallah was already known by security service since last year but didn't have enough information.

The suspect of the terrorist attack which costs the life of one person at Reading park, came to the attention of MI5 last year according to security sources.

Reading attack’s suspect was under the attention of MI5

Khairi Saadallah is a 25 years old refugee of the Lybian civil war. At the attack the police detained him with the suspicion of murder, then he was arrested under the Terrorism Act on Sunday. On Saturday, three people were wounded at the attack at 7 pm in Forbury Gardens in Reading town centre. Boris Johnson told to media he was “appalled and sickened” by the attack and said “we will not hesitate to take action” if there is something to understand from the situation.

The suspect came to the attention of MI5 last year in 2019, but security service didn’t started an investigation due to the absence of necessary requirements to start it. Investigation sources have revealed that they are not looking for another partner of the attack.

The fear and anger of the Reading community

A passionate letter from the School describes Mr James Furlong, the victim of the terror attack as “kind and gentle man” who had a “real sense of duty and cared for each and every one of our students”.

Amir Hadyoon a deliveroo driver witnessed to see a man covered in blood arrested outside the Job Centre at the opposite end of Friar Street from Forbury Gardens. “To me it looked very weird because he didn’t say a word. He didn’t care, he was just staring… he was just completely silent. He wasn’t even blinking, he looked really weird”, he said.

Thames Valley Chief Constable John Campbell reported: “Incidents of this nature are very rare, though I know that will be of little comfort to those involved and understand the concern that this incident will have caused amongst our local community. We will be working closely with our partners over the coming days and weeks to support the Reading community during this time, as well as with Counter-Terror Police South East (CTPSE) as they progress their investigation.”
