No10 implemented the rules on masks as new restrictions in an effort to avoid a potentially catastrophic second wave in the winter.

If you are a big fan of McDonald’s, you should wear face masks when ordering at the counter. If you break the rule, you can risk a £100 fine. Masks rule implemented in takeaways and sandwich shops under laws introduced on Thursday.

The new rules said table service is excluded though purchasing food from a counter. Also, sitting down to eat inside is not allowed.

The government has not yet confirmed if the new rules, which take effect in supermarkets and shops on Friday, will also apply to takeaways. More detail on the premises where masks should be worn is expected to be introduced on Thursday.

Brian Lewis said that you have to wear a mask when paying or taking in out. But, if you sit at a table, you don’t need to wear a mask.

The eating options will need the taking of customer details in case of a Covid outbreak. Health Secretary Matt Hancock will deliver an order to amend the Public Health Act 1984 to make face masks compulsory in shops. The face masks’rule in shops from Friday had already been announced, but if it applied to takeaways has been uncertain.

And while it seems that shoppers can be turned away at tills for not complying, the legal responsibility is on the individual and not the shops. However, many businesses declare they have still not been formerly informed whether customers will be required to wear masks. In fact, Mr Hancock previously declared that customers entering Pret A Manger would be required to wear a mask, but Boris Johnson’s official spokesperson later said they wouldn’t. UKHospitality CEO Kate Nicholls argued: “The public needs clarity and reassurance if customer confidence is to bounce back.”
