France has been placed “under surveillance” after new cases rose by more than 1,600: the Country will be add to UK's quarantine list.

The UK government will not hesitate to add more countries to its quarantine list.

France on UK’s quarantine list

France may follow Belgium, Andorra and the Bahamas onto the list requiring travellers to stay at home for 14 days. This is because the government should add two new European countries to the UK’s “no-go” list after that all happens.

Chancellor Rishi Sunak told Sky News that “ If we need to take action overnight we will of course not hesitate to do that ”, and adds ” We’re in the middle of a global pandemic and that means there is always the risk of disruption to travel plans and people need to bear that in mind.

For the second day in a row, France’s new cases rose by more than 1,600. It is following a number of steep daily rises in recent weeks. Because of this, France has been placed “under surveillance”. Thereafter, between 500.000 people and one million British travellers are in France, and, if the Foreign Office warns against non-essential travel, and the Department for Transport removes France from the quarantine-exempt list, there would for sure be a rush to leave the country and return to Britain before the deadline.

After the government faced criticism for announcing Spain’s addition less than five hours before restrictions came into effect, travellers were given 32 hours’ notice of the most recent additions to the no-go list (Belgium, Andorra and the Bahamas).
