The 99-year-old Duke of Edinburgh was taken to the King Edward VII Hospital in London "as a precautionary measure".

Prince Philip has been admitted to the hospital Buckingham Palace announced. The 99-year-old Duke of Edinburgh was transferred to London’s King Edward VII Hospital last night “after feeling ill.” His illness is not related to Covid, attendees confirmed this afternoon.

A palace spokesman said: “His Royal Highness the Duke of Edinburgh was admitted to King Edward VII Hospital in London on Tuesday night.” He entered the hospital and the royal assistants said: “his stay is purely preventive.” The 94-year-old Queen remains at Windsor Castle, authorities said.

The Duke of Edinburgh has been isolated with the Queen at Windsor Castle during the pandemic. The Queen ‘determined to get back to business’ upon welcoming Joe Biden to Buckingham Palace, Prince Philip retired from public life in August 2017 after decades supporting the Queen and attending events for his own charities and organizations.
