Sanctions against British politicians, companies and lawyers: the decision in China after the actions of Great Britain against Uighur Muslims in the Chinese region of Xinjiang.

Sanctions against British politicians, companies and lawyers: China decided to act in an act of revenge after the actions of Great Britain against Uighur Muslims in the Chinese region of Xinjiang.

Sanctions against British institutions

China is determined to safeguard and protect its national sovereignty and interests by warning the United Kingdom against continuing to go down the wrong road. On the contrary, China claims to act further and respond more strongly.

Just last Friday, the Chinese Foreign Minister said that the UK’s decision to sanction Chinese people was not based on anything solid, but only on misinformation or lies.

Earlier this week, UK Foreign Secretary Dominic Raab announced sanctions against four Chinese individuals, members of the authorities in the Xinjiang Uighur Autonomous Region and the Xinjiang Public Security Bureau.

According to Beijing, however, this action would seriously violate the rights and standards of international relations, also having an impact on Chinese internal affairs and the relationship with the UK itself.

On the basis of what has just been said, China has decided to respond to the United Kingdom as a result of its actions, punishing as many as nine people and four entities who spread disinformation and untrue facts.

What is the penalty? As of today, these people will not be able to enter the continent (or even their immediate relatives); all the properties they own in Chinese territory will be frozen and will not be able to engage in business with China.

The United Kingdom, however, is not the only one which have imposed sanctions on some Chinese individuals: the United States and Europe have also done so. In these cases, too, China has reacted in the same way, in other words by imposing sanctions.
