For the first time, army tanker drivers deliver stocks to petrol stations which hit by the fuel crisis. About 200 military personnel are being stationed in Operation Escalin. However, ministers are declaring the situation at the pumps is easing.

PRA chairman Brian Madderson said while the crisis was “practically over” in Scotland, the North and the Midlands, more than one-in-five filling stations in London and the South East were no fuel.
Boris Johnson expressed confidence the crisis was “decreasing” and said the military was being stationed as a “precaution”. The Prime Minister repeatedly declined to rule out deficits in the wider economy in the run-up to Christmas.
