Amid growing worries of a winter health crisis, scientists and NHS chiefs invited ministers to discuss Covid Plan B restrictions. Kwasi Kwarteng, a Business Secretary, strictly rules out new lockdowns. He described its restrictions in England as unhelpful. On the other side, Professor Adam Finn, a member of the Government’s vaccination advisory body the JCVI, predicted that the country was “very near to the edge of the cliff”.
