Based on the report, the UK plan to eliminate all seven left countries on the red list as the Covid-19 threat from abroad eases. Ministers were assumed to have a meeting on Thursday with the agenda of decreasing the red list to zero. It includes eliminating the requirement to quarantine in a hotel when coming back from overseas.
They remain red list countries are the Dominican Republic, Haiti, Venezuela, Peru, Ecuador, Haiti, and Colombia.
Travellers from those countries are currently needed to restrain themselves to ten days of hotel quarantine for £2,285 per person.
However, the report said that the red list will be kept as a reminder for ministers in the future. They will feel the need to guard the UK against another serious variant. With that, thousands of hotel rooms would continue on standby.
Earlier in October, the government cut the red list from 54 countries to just seven. With that, Britons can travel to South Africa, Brazil and Mexico.
On the other side, a Downing Street spokesman said on Thursday there were no plans to discard the red list system.
